A Morning Prayer to Walk in Love Today

Lord Jesus, You walked in love
all the way to the cross.
You gave Yourself up for me.

Today, I want to walk in that same direction,
even if I only manage small steps.

Love is easy to talk about at breakfast.
It gets harder by noon.
When someone is slow, or rude, or needy,
when love will cost me my time or my way,
that is where I need You most.

Show me where to give a little of myself today:
to listen longer than I meant to,
to let someone else go first,
to do the helpful thing nobody asked for.

Let every step I take today
follow Your footprints, not my own.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this before the day begins, and say the first lines again at noon, when love is harder. It is a good one for a day of caring for someone, or a day with a long list of visits and errands.
