A Morning Prayer for the Fruit of Faithfulness

Make me someone people can count on, Lord.

I make promises so easily.
I'll call you back. I'll be there. I'll pray for you.
Then the day fills up,
and some of those promises slip through my fingers.

Grow faithfulness in me by Your Spirit.
Help me keep the small promises,
because that is where the big ones begin.
Help me show up when I said I would,
finish what I started,
and pray for the people I told I'd pray for.

Make me faithful in the little things today:
the chores, the visits, the ordinary kindnesses.
Faithful to my family and my friends,
and faithful to You,
who have never once broken Your word to me.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this at the start of the day, perhaps while you check your list or your calendar. It is especially good on a morning when you have promised to call someone, visit, or pray for a friend.
