A Morning Prayer to Carry God's Word Through the Day

Father, I want to take Your word with me today,
not leave it on the table when I stand up.

Plant one verse deep in me this morning.
Let me say it over while I dress,
while I walk, while I wait in line.
Let it be like a smooth stone in my pocket,
something my hand finds without looking.

When I am worried, bring it back to me.
When I am tempted, let it stop me.
When I'm too tired to find a prayer,
let it pray in me.

My memory lets me down sometimes, Lord.
But You can write on my heart
what I can't keep in my head.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
