A Morning Prayer for the Fruit of Patience

Lord, as I get dressed this morning,
clothe me with patience too.
I'll need it before the day is out.

There will be lines that don't move,
and phone calls on hold,
and people who tell me the same story twice.
There may be pain that is slow to heal,
or an answer to prayer that is slow to come.

I want things to hurry.
You never seem to.
You let a seed take its time.
You let a child learn slowly.
And You have been patient with me for years.

Let Your Spirit grow that same patience in me.
When I start to tap my foot,
remind me of Your patience with me,
and let me pass a little of it on.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this while you are getting dressed, or just before you leave the house. It helps on days with appointments, long waits, or an answer you have been waiting a long time to receive.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with hearts of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." — Colossians 3:12 (BSB)
