A Morning Prayer for the Fruit of Kindness
Kind and gracious God,
Your kindness reached me before I was awake.
You kept me through the night.
You forgave me again for yesterday.
You gave me this morning, which I didn't earn. Now let it take root in me, by Your Spirit.
Not the polite kind that stays on the surface,
but real kindness, from a tender heart.Let it show in my voice,
especially with the people closest to me,
who too often get the worst of me.
Let it show in my hands:
a door held, a chair offered, a dish washed.
Let it show in my thoughts,
so I assume the best before the worst.I have been shown so much kindness.
Let me pass it on all day long.In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this at the kitchen table, or while you wait for the kettle. It is a good one to say on a day when you will spend time with family, since they are the ones the prayer asks you to be kind to first.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Be kind and tenderhearted to one another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you." — Ephesians 4:32 (BSB)
