An Evening Prayer Under the Stars
Maker of the stars,
whether I can see them tonight or not,
they are out there, more than anyone can count. You know how many there are.
You call each one by name.
Not one of them goes missing. The One who keeps the stars in their places
is the same One who keeps me.
When I think of that, my worries shrink a little. The God who names the stars
also heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
You are great enough for the heavens,
and gentle enough for me.So I'll go to sleep under Your sky tonight,
one small person under a very big heaven,
known and loved by name.In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this outdoors on a clear night if you can, on a porch or by an open window. If it is cloudy, pray it anyway; the stars are still there.
A Verse to Hold On To
"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars; He calls them each by name." — Psalm 147:3–4 (BSB)
