An Evening Prayer for Making Room for God (Psalm 132)
Mighty God, King David once made a vow.
He would not go to bed,
or even let himself close his eyes,
until he had found a place for You.I'm not that determined.
Most nights I fall into bed
without giving You much room at all.
My heart is crowded with other things —
the day's leftovers, tomorrow's plans,
the noise I let in and never let out.So before I sleep tonight,
I want to clear a space for You.
Not a grand one. A quiet corner.
A few minutes. An open heart. And here is the wonder:
You want to be here.
You said of Zion, This is My resting place.
And Jesus promised that You would make Your home
with everyone who loves Him.Make Your home in me tonight,
as I make my home in You.In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when your heart feels crowded and you have given God only the leftovers of the day. Set aside a few minutes before bed, turn off the noise, and let the last lines sit in the quiet.
A Verse to Hold On To
"This is My resting place forever and ever; here I will dwell, for I have desired this home." — Psalm 132:14 (BSB)
