A Prayer Before a Marathon

Lord, as I stand at the starting line, I give this race to You. Thank You for a healthy body and the chance to run. Steady my heart and calm my nerves.

Give me strength for every mile. When my legs grow tired and my breath runs short, be my endurance. Help me to keep going, one step at a time.

Keep me safe from injury, and watch over all who run beside me. Whatever my finish time, let me run with gratitude and joy.

Thank You for this gift of effort and hope. In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this in the quiet moments before the race begins, or during training runs when your resolve needs lifting. Let it remind you that your strength and your breath are gifts from God.

A Verse to Hold On To

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall run, and not be weary." — Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
