A Prayer for Teachers
Father, today I bring You the teachers.
The ones at the classroom door at 7 a.m., coffee in hand, greeting thirty children by name. The ones grading essays at their own kitchen tables long after their own children are asleep. The ones who spend their own money on pencils and tissues and never mention it.
Thank You for them, Lord. Most of us can trace some turning point in our lives back to a teacher who saw something in us before we saw it ourselves. They plant trees they will never sit under. Bless them for it.
Give them strength for the long days — the fire drills, the lesson plans rewritten at midnight, the meetings that could have been emails, the paperwork that never sleeps.
Give them patience for the hard kids — and give them the sight to see, behind the hardest kid, the hard home, the hungry morning, the unspoken fear. Let their classrooms be the safest room in some child's whole day.
Guard their hearts against discouragement. Teaching is planting in the dark, Lord — they rarely see the harvest. Send them the note from the former student, the parent who says thank you, the small proof that it matters. It matters so much.
Bless the substitute walking into an unfamiliar room, the aide who knows every student's story, the principal carrying the whole building, the bus driver, the lunch lady, the janitor — the whole quiet army that raises our children with us.
And when a teacher lies awake wondering if they should have chosen easier work, whisper to them what You know: that no hour spent shaping a young soul is ever lost, and that the God who calls Himself Teacher sees every bit of it.

When to Pray This
Pray this during the first exhausting week of school, during exam season, or on a Sunday night in February when the year feels longest. If you know a teacher, send it to them — they hear complaints all week; let them hear a prayer.
