An Evening Prayer of Thanks for Today's Small Victories

Lord, there were some small victories today.
Nobody else will hear about them,
but I want You to.

Maybe it was the phone call I'd been putting off.
Maybe it was getting out of the house,
or just getting out of bed,
on a day when even that was hard.
Maybe I held my tongue once,
when usually I don't.
Maybe I finished something I started.

They are small things.
Nobody gave me a medal.
But You were with me in every one,
and none of them happened without You.

Thank You for strength that came just in time,
and for faith the size of a mustard seed,
which turned out to be enough.

Let me fall asleep glad of today,
and grateful to You.
The victories were small, but You are not.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this at the end of a day that was harder than it looked from the outside. Before you begin, think of one small thing you managed, and name it to God. It is a good prayer after a day when even getting up was an effort.

A Verse to Hold On To

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." — Philippians 4:13 (KJV)
