A Room-by-Room Evening Blessing for My Home
Father, before I turn in,
walk through this house with me, room by room.Bless the kitchen, where today's meals were made.
Thank You for the food, and for every hand that helped.
Bless the front door, locked now for the night.
Guard it better than any lock can.Bless the chair where I sit and think,
and the table where the letters and bills pile up.
Bless the quiet corners and the noisy ones,
and every window looking out into the dark.Bless every bed in this house tonight,
and whoever sleeps in it.
Give rest to the tired,
comfort to the troubled,
and peace to anyone who is not at peace. These rooms are only wood and brick and plaster.
You are the home I really live in.
Keep everyone under this roof safe in You tonight. In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this as you make your last walk through the house, locking the door and turning out the lights. Stop in each room as you come to it, or pray it all in one spot if walking is hard.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Lord, You have been our dwelling place through all generations." — Psalm 90:1 (BSB)
