An Evening Prayer of Thanks for the Work of My Hands (Psalm 128)

Blessed are those who walk in Your ways, Lord,
and eat the fruit of their own hands.

Thank You for the work my hands did today.
Maybe it was a paid job, or housework,
or caring for someone who needed me.
Maybe it was a garden, a phone call, a meal,
or simply getting through a hard day.
All of it was work, and You saw every bit of it.

Thank You for my supper tonight,
however simple it was.
Thank You for the table and the chair,
and for anyone who sat there with me.

The blessing in Your psalm is a simple one.
Bread from honest work.
Peace at home, and a quiet heart.
Your favor over it all.
That is enough for me tonight.

Bless these hands that are tired now,
and let them rest.
And whatever they do tomorrow,
let them do it for You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when you sit down after the day's work, or at the table before supper. It belongs to anyone who did something with their hands today, even if it was only getting through the day.

A Verse to Hold On To
