An Evening Prayer for Tears Sown in Hope (Psalm 126)

Lord of the harvest,
some nights I go to bed with tears still on my face.

Your people knew nights like that.
They had lost so much.
Then You brought them home,
and it was so good it felt like a dream.
Their mouths were filled with laughter.
Even other nations said, The Lord has done great things for them.

I remember times You did that for me.
Seasons I thought would never end, and they did.
Let me remember them tonight.

And whatever I am weeping over now,
let my tears be like seed in the ground —
not wasted, not forgotten,
but held by You until the time is right.
I don't know when the harvest will come.
But I trust that You do.

Give me sleep tonight,
and maybe a good dream or two.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this on a night when you are grieving or worn out from weeping. Say it slowly in bed with the light low, and don't hurry or expect to feel better by the end.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy." — Psalm 126:5 (BSB)
