An Evening Prayer at the End of My Strength

Lord, I'm too tired for many words.
Here is all of me that's left tonight.

When Elijah was worn out,
You didn't scold him or give him a lecture.
You let him sleep.
You sent him bread and water,
and then You let him sleep again.

Be that kind to me tonight.
I have nothing clever to say,
and nothing left to give.
Let me lie down without apologizing.

Whatever is left undone can wait.
You stay awake so I can rest.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when you are too tired for a long prayer and it is all you can manage before you lie down. There is no need to say it well, or to finish anything else first.
