A Prayer for When You Feel Angry

Lord, I come to You with a heart that feels hot and heavy. I am angry, and I do not want this anger to rule me.

Help me to breathe and to be still. Take the edge off my temper. Replace my frustration with Your calm, and my bitterness with Your peace.

Give me patience with the people and things that have upset me. Help me to speak gently and act wisely, even now.

Thank You for understanding me completely. Settle my heart in Your love, in Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this in the moment when anger rises and you feel ready to boil over. Take a slow breath first, then say the words quietly until your heart begins to settle. You can return to it whenever frustration comes back.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath." — Ephesians 4:26 (KJV)
