A Prayer for Anger

Lord, my heart is hot with anger, and I need Your peace. You see what has stirred me up. You know the hurt beneath it. Calm the storm inside me before it spills onto others.

Slow my words. Steady my breath. Soften my spirit. Help me not to sin in my anger, but to lay it down before You. Teach me to be patient, and to answer gently.

Where I have been wronged, give me grace to forgive. Where I am wrong, give me humility to see it. Trade my anger for Your calm, and my bitterness for peace.

Thank You for hearing me, Lord. Quiet my heart, and lead me gently back to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this in the moment anger rises, before you speak or act in a way you may regret. It can also help afterward, when you are trying to cool down and make peace. Take a slow breath as you begin.
