A Prayer for Fear of Flying

Lord, You know I am afraid of this flight. I am not going to pretend otherwise — You see my racing heart, and You are not ashamed of it.

Meet me here in this seat. When the engines roar, let me hear You instead. When the wheels leave the ground, remind me that I have not left Your hands.

If the plane shakes, hold my thoughts steady. Fear tells me stories, Lord — answer them with Your truth: that You are with me in the air as surely as on the ground.

Slow my breathing. Unclench my hands. Turn these hours in the sky into hours spent close to You.

And when we land, let my first feeling be thanks.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this in the terminal before boarding, and keep it open on your phone to pray again during takeoff or turbulence — repeating it is not weak faith, it is faith breathing. If flying fear disrupts your life, talking to a counselor can help too; God works through them as well.
