A Prayer While Trying to Conceive
Father, You know why I am here before I say it. We are trying for a child, and our arms are still empty.
You see the part no one else sees: the hope that rises every month and the quiet grief when it falls again. The nursery that exists only in my mind. The announcements from friends that I celebrate through tears. I bring You all of it, because I cannot carry it alone.
Long ago, Hannah wept in Your house and You did not turn away from her. Lord, do not turn away from me. I will not pretend this doesn't hurt, and I will not pretend to know Your plans. I only know that You are kind, and that no tear of mine lands unnoticed.
Bless the doctors and nurses walking this road with us — give them wisdom, and give us patience for the process. Keep this longing from hardening into bitterness. Keep our marriage tender through the trying. And whatever the road ahead holds, stay close, and teach us to hope without breaking.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this on the hard days of the cycle — the waiting days, the test days, the days when another month closes. It can be prayed alone, or aloud with your spouse. Hannah's story is not a formula; it is proof that God hears the ache, and that praying honestly about it is allowed.
A Verse to Hold On To
"For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him." — 1 Samuel 1:27 (KJV)
