A Prayer for Stillness at the End of the Day

The day is over, Lord.
Now let me be still.

Not busy. Not planning.
Not fixing anything, or anyone.
Just still, here with You.

I let my hands rest open in my lap.
I let my breathing slow down.
I let the noise of the day drain away,
like water out of a basin.

You are God, and You are here.
I am not God, and I don't need to be.
That is good news tonight.

In the quiet, let me know that You are near.
In the stillness, let me know that You are enough.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when you sit down at last after a busy day, before you reach for the television or the phone. Rest your hands in your lap, and let the quiet after the final line be part of the prayer.

A Verse to Hold On To
