A Morning Prayer for the Fruit of Peace

Prince of Peace, You once slept in a boat
while a storm threw water over the sides.
Your friends were sure they were going under.
You stood up, spoke to the wind,
and everything went still.

Speak to the wind in me this morning.
The worry that keeps circling.
The hurry that won't sit down.
The old argument I keep having in my head.

The day ahead may still be stormy.
But let Your Spirit grow a quiet place in me
that the weather can't reach.
And from that quiet place, let me carry calm
to everyone I meet today.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this first thing in the morning, before the day's hurry begins, especially when you wake with worry already circling. Say it slowly, and take one deep breath before you get up.
