An Evening Prayer of Quiet Contentment

Lord, I have nowhere else to be tonight,
and nothing I need to fix.

The clock is ticking softly.
The house is still.
There's something warm in my cup,
and the day has settled down at last.

I'm not waiting for anything to change.
I'm not wishing I were somewhere else, or someone else.
I am still learning this,
and I forget it often:
with You, I have enough.

I know it won't always feel like this.
There will be harder nights.
So let me notice this one,
and thank You for it while it's here.

Let me fall asleep content,
wanting nothing more than You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this on a calm evening when nothing is pressing, with a warm drink in your hand and the house quiet. Keep it for those rare nights when you have nothing left to do and want to be thankful for it.

A Verse to Hold On To

"I have learned to be content regardless of my circumstances." — Philippians 4:11 (BSB)
