An Evening Prayer for Leaving Tomorrow Until Tomorrow

Tomorrow isn't even here yet, Lord,
and I'm already living in it.

I've walked through it in my mind.
I've gone over the plans and the what-ifs.
I'm tired from a day that hasn't even started.

You fed Your people in the wilderness one day at a time.
Bread every morning, enough for that day.
When they tried to store it up, it spoiled.
You wanted them to trust You for tomorrow's bread
when tomorrow came, and not before.

Teach me that kind of trust.
Tomorrow's strength can come with tomorrow.
And You will be there before I am.

Today had enough trouble of its own.
Let me put tomorrow down and rest.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when you catch yourself rehearsing tomorrow's problems while the lights are still on. It suits the quiet hour after supper, or the moment you get into bed.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today has enough trouble of its own." — Matthew 6:34 (BSB)
