Your Will Be Done — A Morning Prayer

Father, in heaven Your will is done gladly,
with no arguing and no dragging of feet.
Let it be done that way here, in me, today.

I'll confess, I pray these words carefully.
I'm afraid of what Your will might ask of me.
But Jesus prayed them in the garden,
with tears, on the hardest night of His life,
and He trusted You all the way through.

Your will is not something to be endured.
It comes from the One who loves me most.
So I want more than to put up with it.
I want to want it.

Where my plans and Yours part ways today,
help me choose Yours with a willing heart.
And where I can't see why,
help me trust the love behind it.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when you are afraid of what God might ask of you, or when your plans and His seem to be heading different ways. Pray it slowly, even if you can only half mean it at first.

A Verse to Hold On To

"I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your law is within my heart." — Psalm 40:8 (BSB)
