A Saturday Morning Prayer

Lord, thank You for a morning that is not in a hurry.

The alarm did not go off. Nothing is owed yet. Before I fill this day up, let me sit in it a moment and be glad.

Thank You for rest, and for the people still asleep down the hall. Bless the small ordinary hours ahead — the coffee, the errands, the jobs I have been putting off, the faces around my table.

Keep me from spending the whole day catching up and missing the day itself.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this before the house wakes up, or with the first cup of coffee on a slow morning. It is written for a Saturday, but it fits any day off — a holiday, a quiet retirement morning, or the first free day after a hard week.

A Verse to Hold On To

"This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." — Psalm 118:24 (KJV)
