A Morning Prayer for the First Words of My Day
Before I say a word to anyone,
I want to say it to You, Lord.
Good morning. I love You.
Thank You for keeping me through the night. My first words are usually a groan,
a complaint about the weather,
or a list of everything that has to get done.
Today, let them be praise. Then go with my words into the day.
Let the first thing I say to the people I see
be gentle, not hurried or sharp.
Let my voice carry a little warmth
into every room I enter. And if I speak carelessly before noon,
bring me back to this quiet moment,
and let me begin again with You.In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this as soon as you wake, before you say a word to anyone else. It is a good one for mornings when you tend to begin with a groan or a complaint.
A Verse to Hold On To
"I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise will always be on my lips." — Psalm 34:1 (BSB)
