A Morning Prayer for God's New Mercies
Lord, the dew came down while I was sleeping.
No one saw it fall.
This morning it is simply there,
on the grass, on the car, on everything.Your mercy is like that.
It came quietly in the night,
and it was waiting for me when I woke.I don't have to live on yesterday's mercy,
stretched thin to cover yesterday's mistakes.
There is fresh mercy for today,
enough for whatever I get wrong,
enough for the patience I will run short of,
enough for every hour I'm not at my best.So I won't start this day still paying for the last one.
I'll start it the way Your mercies start: new.In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this on a morning when yesterday's mistakes are still on your mind. It is a good one to say at the back door or by the window, looking out at the new day.
A Verse to Hold On To
"It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." — Lamentations 3:22–23 (KJV)
