Let the Words of My Mouth — A Prayer From Psalm 19

The sky is telling Your glory this morning, Lord,
without saying a word.
The sun came up like a runner glad to run,
and nothing is hidden from its warmth.

Your word does for my soul
what the sunrise does for the world.
It revives me. It makes the simple wise.
It is sweeter than honey and worth more than gold.

Search me with its light today.
Forgive the faults I can't see in myself,
and keep me from the ones I know too well.

And as I go out into the day,
let the words of my mouth
and the thoughts I turn over in my heart
be pleasing to You,
my Rock and my Redeemer.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this by a window as the sun comes up, or on a walk in the early morning. The last lines are a good prayer to say again quietly before a hard conversation.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer." — Psalm 19:14 (KJV)
