Joy Comes in the Morning — A Prayer From Psalm 30

I will lift You up, Lord,
because You have lifted me.

I remember nights of weeping,
nights I didn't think would ever end.
I cried out to You, and You heard me.
And then the morning came.
Not always all at once,
but it came, and joy came with it.

You turned my mourning into dancing.
You took off my sackcloth
and dressed me in gladness.
I don't want to forget that.

If there is still a sorrow I carry this morning,
I bring it to You, and I will wait.
Weeping may stay for the night,
but You are the God of the morning.

I won't keep quiet about Your goodness.
I will thank You forever.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this on a morning after a long, hard night, or when you look back and see how God brought you through an earlier sorrow. If grief is still with you, pray it slowly and be honest about what still hurts.

A Verse to Hold On To
