It Is Good to Praise You — A Prayer From Psalm 92

It is good to praise You, Lord,
and good to start the day by saying so.
In the morning I'll speak of Your love,
and tonight I'll tell of Your faithfulness.

You have made me glad by all You do.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands:
this morning, this light, this life.

Your word says those planted in Your house
will flourish like a palm tree,
still bearing fruit in old age,
healthy, fresh and green.

Whatever my age, let me be like that.
Rooted deep in You.
Still growing, still learning,
still useful in Your hands,
still green when others expect me to be dry.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this at the start of the day, and again in the evening if you like, since it speaks of both morning and night. It is a kind prayer for a birthday, or for any day you wonder whether you are still of use.
