I Will Sing of Your Strength — A Prayer From Psalm 59

O my Strength, I sing to You this morning.

David wrote this psalm with his house surrounded,
men watching the door through the night.
He said they came back every evening,
prowling the city like hungry dogs.

No one was hunting me last night.
But worries came back after dark
and prowled around my mind,
circling the same questions again and again.
What if this happens? What if that goes wrong?

Now it is morning, and I am still here.
And You are still my fortress,
my safe place on the hard days.

So I will do what David did.
I will sing of Your strength,
and of Your love that met me again at sunrise.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this after a night when worries kept circling and sleep would not come. Say it at the window as the light comes up, and hum a hymn you know if you feel like it.

A Verse to Hold On To

"But I will sing of Your strength and proclaim Your loving devotion in the morning. For You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble." — Psalm 59:16 (BSB)
