I Wake Again — A Prayer From Psalm 3

I lay down last night, Lord,
with my troubles piled up around me.
And still You gave me rest.
Now I wake again,
because You held me up all night.

David wrote this running from his own son,
while people said God would never help him.
But You were a shield around him,
and You were the One who lifted his head.

Lift my head this morning.
I've been walking with my eyes on the ground,
weighed down by what has gone wrong.
Raise my chin. Let me look up
and see that You are still here.

I don't have to fear the crowd of troubles.
You are my shield today,
as You were through the night.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this when you wake after a restless night, with your troubles still sitting on your chest. Say it before you get out of bed, and then lift your head and begin the day.

A Verse to Hold On To

"I lie down and sleep; I wake again, for the LORD sustains me." — Psalm 3:5 (BSB)
