Hallowed Be Your Name — A Morning Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name.

Before I ask You for anything today,
let me simply honor who You are.
Shepherd. Rock. Redeemer. Friend.
Holy, and yet near enough to call Father.

Let Your name be holy in my mouth,
never careless, never spoken in anger,
never tossed out without a thought.
Let it be holy in my home,
spoken with love at the table and the bedside.

And because I carry Your name as Your child,
let it be honored in how I live today:
in what I say when I'm annoyed,
in how I treat people who can do nothing for me.

May someone think well of You today
because of something they saw in me.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this first thing in the morning, before you ask God for anything. Take it slowly, one line at a time. It also helps on a day when you expect to be tested and want to speak with care.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness." — Psalm 29:2 (BSB)
