Deliver Us From Evil — A Morning Prayer

Deliver us from evil, Lord.

It is real, and I see it every day:
cruelty in the news,
lies dressed up as truth,
people who prey on the lonely and the trusting.
And sometimes I find it closer than that,
in the pride and anger of my own heart.

Guard me today, Lord.
Guard my mind from what would poison it.
Guard my home and the people I love.
Guard the children and the frail,
and everyone who cannot protect themselves.

Evil is real, but You will have the last word.
Jesus has already won the victory
over sin and death and darkness.

So I step into this day trusting You.
For Yours is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this before you leave the house, or after you have read something in the news that troubled you. It is also a good prayer to say for your family and your home as the day begins.

A Verse to Hold On To
