Blessed Are the Peacemakers — A Morning Prayer
Father, Your Son came to make peace
between heaven and earth,
and between people who couldn't stand each other.
Make me a peacemaker today. Not just someone who avoids trouble
by keeping quiet and smiling,
but someone who builds bridges.Where there is tension in my family,
my church or my street,
show me one small thing I can do.
A softer answer. A first apology.
A phone call I've been putting off.
A refusal to pass along gossip. And start with the war inside me,
the grudges I nurse and the scores I keep.
Let Your peace settle there first,
so I have some to give away.Your peacemakers are called Your children.
Let me look like my Father today. In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when there is tension at home, at church or on your street, and you are not sure what to do about it. It is also a good prayer to say just before you make a phone call you have been putting off.
A Verse to Hold On To
"Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." — Matthew 5:9 (KJV)
