Blessed Are the Meek — A Morning Prayer

Lord, the world tells me to push to the front,
to stand up for myself, to take what's mine.
You say the meek will inherit the earth.

But meekness isn't weakness.
Jesus rode into the city on a young donkey,
though He was a King,
and stood silent before the people who mocked Him.
That took more strength than shouting.

Give me that kind of strength today.
Strength that doesn't need to win every argument
or have the best seat at the table.
Strength that can be wronged
and leave the answer to You.

I don't have to grab and guard and grasp.
You are my defender,
and everything that matters is safe with You.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this before a meeting, a family gathering, or any day when you expect to be tempted to push your way to the front. It also helps on a morning after someone has wronged you and you want to leave the answer with God.

A Verse to Hold On To
