A Prayer to Calm a Child

Father, this little one is upset, and I am holding them close and calling on You.

Quiet the storm inside this small heart. Slow the tears, soften the fear, and let Your peace settle over us both like a warm blanket.

Give me patience that outlasts the crying, a gentle voice, and steady arms. Remind us both that we are safe, because You are near.

When to Pray This

Pray this softly — even in a whisper — while rocking, holding, or sitting beside an upset child. Many parents pray it during tantrums, night fears, or big feelings that words can't reach. Children often calm as they hear it, and you may find it calms you too.
