A Prayer for Strength as a Parent

Lord, I love these children more than my own life, and still, today, I am worn out.

Give me strength for one more bedtime, one more question, one more mess, one more round of the same small battles.

When my patience runs dry, pour in Yours. When my voice starts to rise, soften it. When I fail — and I will — give me the humility to say sorry and the grace to begin again.

Remind me that I do not raise them alone. You love them even more than I do, and You are parenting me while I parent them.

Let them remember a home with laughter in it, and a mother or father who kept showing up. That is all I ask strength for today.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this in the car before walking back into the house, during nap time, or in the hallway outside a child's door after a hard evening. It is for parents of toddlers and parents of teenagers in equal measure.
