A Morning Prayer for the People I Will Meet Today

God who knows every name,
I don't know yet who I will meet today, but You do.

So I pray for them now, before we meet.
The person at the checkout.
The driver who lets me in, or doesn't.
The neighbor I wave to.
The voice on the other end of a phone call.
The one who will test my patience.

Each of them woke up this morning carrying something.
Bless them in ways I will never see.
Give them a good day, a lighter load,
and a reason to hope.

And when we cross paths,
let me treat them as people You love,
not as interruptions in my day.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this just before you leave the house, or before the first phone call of the day. It is especially good on a day when you know you will be among people, at the shops, a clinic or a church hall.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." — Hebrews 13:2 (BSB)
