A Midweek Prayer for Wednesday

Lord, here I am in the middle.

Monday's fresh start has worn off, and Friday is still two long days away. This is the stretch of the race where runners hit the wall — too far in to turn back, too far out to see the finish.

This is where I need You most. Not at the exciting beginnings or the satisfying endings, but here, in the ordinary Wednesday middle, where the work is half done and so am I.

You promise that those who wait on You renew their strength. So I am waiting on You now — right here at my desk, at this sink, in this hallway between one task and the next. Trade my tiredness for Your strength. Lift my eyes off the pile and onto You.

Carry me through the rest of this week, Lord, not just surviving it, but finding You in the middle of it.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this on Wednesday whenever the week starts to sag — over lunch, on an afternoon walk, or in the two minutes before your next meeting. It also fits the middle of anything long: a semester, a project, a season of caregiving.

A Verse to Hold On To

"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." — Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)
