An Epiphany Morning Prayer for Bringing My Gifts

Lord Jesus, the wise men came a long way to find You.
They followed a star over deserts and borders,
and when they found You, they knelt down.

They brought gold, frankincense and myrrh,
the best they had, carried all that way.

This morning I come with my own gifts.
They are not costly.
A little time. A little love.
The work of my hands.
The prayers I can still pray.
The years I have left.

Take them, Lord Jesus.
They are small, but they are Yours.

Like the wise men, let me worship You first today,
before I do anything else.
Let me open my treasures to You,
and hold back nothing You ask for.
And let the people I meet today
catch a glimpse of the King I have found.

In Your name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this on the morning of Epiphany, January 6, or on the Sunday nearest to it. It also fits any morning when you want to offer your time and your work to Jesus before the day begins.

A Verse to Hold On To

"And when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh." — Matthew 2:11 (KJV)
