A Prayer for Stress and Overwhelm

Jesus, I have too much.

Too many tasks, too many tabs, too many people needing answers. The list grows faster than I can cross things off, and somewhere in the noise I've stopped breathing properly. I'm not falling apart. I'm just carrying more than I was built to carry.

You said: come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden. That's me, Lord. Laboring. Heavy laden. Coming.

So here is the load, item by item. The deadline. The inbox. The house. The people counting on me. The things I promised and now regret promising. I set them down at Your feet — not to abandon them, but to stop carrying them alone.

Untangle my day, Lord. Show me the one thing that actually matters next, and give me peace about the ten things that will simply have to wait. You ran the world before I woke up this morning; it will survive my finite hours.

Slow my pulse to the pace of Your presence. Remind me that I am a person, not a machine — Your person, allowed to rest, commanded to rest, even.

I take Your yoke instead of mine. Yours, You said, is easy. Mine has been anything but.

Teach me the unforced rhythm of walking with You, one task, one breath, one hour at a time.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

When to Pray This

Pray this at your desk with your eyes closed for sixty seconds, or in the car before you walk back into the noise. It pairs well with a piece of paper: write the whole list, pray over it, then circle only what is truly today's.

A Verse to Hold On To

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." — Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
