A Prayer for the Prodigals
Father of mercy, I lift up the prodigals today. I pray for every soul who has wandered far from You, from home, and from the faith they once knew. You see them where they are. You love them still.
Go after them, Lord. Stir their hearts in the quiet hours. Let them remember Your goodness and long for home. Guard them on dangerous roads, and keep hope alive in those who wait for them.
When they turn back, let them find no scolding but open arms. Run to meet them, Father, as You promised. Fill the waiting ones with patience and peace until that joyful day.
We trust Your steadfast love to reach where we cannot. In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this whenever your heart aches for someone who has drifted from God or family. It is a good prayer to hold onto in seasons of waiting, when you cannot reach a loved one yourself. Let it remind you that God pursues the lost even when we must simply trust and wait.
A Verse to Hold On To
"For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found." — Luke 15:24 (KJV)
