A Prayer for a Difficult Friend
Loving Father, you know this friendship, and you know how hard it has become. I bring my difficult friend to you, and I ask for patience I do not have on my own.
Soften my heart where it has grown tired or bitter. Help me to see this person as you see them, and to respond with kindness instead of frustration.
Give me wisdom to know when to speak and when to stay quiet, when to draw near and when to set a healthy boundary. Guard us both from harsh words and lasting hurt.
Work your grace in this friendship, Lord. Bring peace where there is tension, and teach me to love as you have loved me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
When to Pray This
Pray this when a friendship feels strained and you are struggling to respond with love. It can help before a hard conversation or simply when a friend has worn out your patience. Let it settle your heart before you act.
A Verse to Hold On To
