Morning
A Prayer for a Season of Waiting
Lord, I am in the in-between, and I have been here longer than I wanted to be.
You know what I'm waiting for. The answer that hasn't come. The door that hasn't opened. The healing, the call, the change, the sign. I check for news the way a sailor checks the horizon, and every day the water looks the same.
I confess the waiting is doing things to me. Some days it makes me anxious. Some days it makes me numb. Some days I wonder if You've forgotten which room I'm in. But Your Word says You are working even when I see nothing — that seeds grow in the dark, that You are never early, never late, never absent. Help my tired heart believe that today.
So while I wait, shape me. Don't let these months be dead time. Grow patience in me where panic wants to live. Keep me faithful in the small things in front of me while the big thing stays out of reach. And when the answer finally comes — whatever it is — let me find that You were in the waiting too, and that I did not wait alone.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Evening
A Bedtime Prayer Before Sleep
Father, the day is over and the bed is ready. Before I sleep, I put myself back in Your hands — the same hands that held me all day long.
Thank You for everything today held, and for getting me through the parts I didn't think I'd get through.
Forgive what needs forgiving. I don't want to sleep on an unconfessed heart. You know my failures better than I do, and You are kinder to me about them than I am.
Bless the people I love — each one, by name, in my heart. Keep them through the night.
Now, Lord, let me sleep. Not the thin sleep of a worried mind, but the deep sleep of someone who knows the door is locked, the night is watched, and the One keeping guard never closes His eyes.
Into Your hands I commit my spirit — tonight, tomorrow, and always.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
