Morning

A Prayer When You Feel Like Giving Up

Lord, I'll be honest, because You already know: I want to quit. I have prayed and pushed and held on, and today I looked at all of it and thought — what's the use?

I'm not proud of that. But I'm not going to hide it from You either. You have heard worse from better people. Elijah sat under a tree and asked to be done. David wrote whole psalms from the bottom of the pit. So I know I can say it plainly: Father, I am worn out.

I don't need You to fix everything tonight. I just need enough strength for one more day. That's the whole prayer, really. One more day. And then, tomorrow, one more after that.

Come and find me the way You found Elijah — not with a lecture, but with rest and bread and a quiet voice that knows my name. Feed whatever in me is starving. Let me sleep without dread and wake without despair.

And Lord, if part of this weight is not mine to carry, show me what to set down. Give me honesty to ask for help — from friends, from family, from a counselor or doctor if that's the help I need. You send strength through people. Help me let them in.

Remind me why I started. Remind me who is counting on me. Remind me that the story is not over, because You do not abandon what You begin.

I am not giving up today. I am giving this to You instead. Hold it — and hold me — until the morning.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Evening

An Evening Prayer of Thanks

Thank You, Father, for this day now ending.

For food on the table and a place to sleep. For work done and rest coming. For the people who love me, and the mercy that met me every hour, seen and unseen.

I didn't earn a minute of it. Receive my thanks — it's all I have to give back tonight, and You've never asked for more.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
