Morning
A Grace for a Holiday Meal
Father, look at this table. Look at these faces — the ones who drove for hours, the ones who cooked since morning, the little ones who couldn't wait for this part to be over. We are gathered, and that is no small thing. Thank You.
Thank You for this feast, spread out like Your kindness: more than we need, made with love, meant to be shared. Bless the hands that prepared it — they have given us more than food today.
We remember the ones not at this table: those far away, and those we miss with an ache, whose chairs we still see even when they're filled. Hold them, Lord, and hold our memories of them gently.
For the year behind us — its gifts and its hard parts — thank You for bringing us through it to this day, together. And for those who have no feast and no gathering today, we ask Your provision, and open our hearts to be part of it.
Now bless this food, this family, and this celebration. Let the laughter be loud and the second helpings generous.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

Evening
A Night Prayer for a Worried Mind
Lord, it's night, and my mind will not be quiet.
The worries I managed to outrun all day have caught up with me here in the dark. They always seem bigger at night. You know this about us — You made these minds, and You are not annoyed with mine.
So here they are, one by one. The thing about money. The thing about my health. The people I love and can't protect. The conversation I keep replaying. The tomorrow I keep rehearsing.
I've held them all day, and it changed nothing. You hold them tonight.
You tell me to cast my cares on You, because You care for me. I'm doing that now — not gracefully, but honestly. Some of these I'll try to pick back up at 2 a.m. Be patient with me. Take them again.
Quiet my thoughts the way You quieted the sea — not by explaining the storm, but by speaking to it. Peace. Be still.
And if sleep is slow to come, let me lie here in the dark with You — not alone, not abandoned — just tired, and safe, and loved.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
