Morning

A Prayer for Hope

God of all hope, I am running low on it. I have been looking at the horizon for a while now and I cannot see anything good coming. So I am coming to You, because You see farther than I do.

I am not asking You to pretend things are fine. You never do. You met people in prisons and storms and graveyards, and You did not scold them for despairing — You gave them a future. Give me one, Lord.

Put a small, stubborn light back on my horizon. It does not have to be a sunrise yet. A candle will do. Something to walk toward.

Remind me that my story is not over, that You write good chapters after bad ones, and that hope is not wishful thinking — it is a Person who has never once let go of me.

Anchor me there. And tomorrow morning, when I wake up, let hope wake up with me.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Evening

A Goodnight Prayer for the Family

Father, the house is quieting down, and I bring You my family before I sleep.

Thank You for every person under this roof tonight, and for the ones we love sleeping under other roofs — across town, across the world. One family, kept in one set of hands: Yours.

Forgive us for the ways we were impatient with each other today. We are hardest, somehow, on the people we love most. Let no sharp word from today follow any of us into tomorrow.

Watch over each one as they sleep. Give the tired ones deep rest. Give the worried ones peace. Give the little ones good dreams.

Thank You that home isn't the walls — it's the people, and it's You in the middle of us. Keep us close to each other, and closer to You.

Goodnight, Father. We're all in Your keeping now.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
