Morning

A Prayer for My Work

Lord, here is my workday. I give it to You before it starts — the inbox, the shift, the site, the schedule, whatever is waiting for me when I clock in.

Thank You for work itself. On the days it feels like a grind, remind me that this job feeds people I love, and that no honest work is small in Your eyes.

Give me skill in my hands and clarity in my head. Help me do the annoying task first instead of dreading it all day. When the pressure rises, keep my voice calm and my word good.

Bless the people around me — the coworker carrying trouble I know nothing about, the boss with pressures I don't see, the customer having their worst day. Make me easy to work with, Lord. That is rarer than talent.

Guard me from cutting corners and from grumbling — the two thieves of a good day's work.

And when the day ends, let me leave the work at work, come home with something left to give, and rest, because tomorrow is Yours too.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Evening

A Bedtime Prayer for a Child

Father, here is my child, almost asleep. Of everything You've trusted me with, this is the one that makes me pray the hardest.

Watch over this child tonight. Keep their sleep sweet and their dreams kind. Let them wake up rested, ready to laugh.

Thank You for who You made them to be — for the questions they ask, the way they see things, the particular joy they carry into a room. I forget to be amazed. Tonight I remember.

Grow them up strong and gentle, Lord. Give them courage for a world I can't follow them into, and a faith that's truly their own, not borrowed from mine.

Forgive me for the ways I fell short as a parent today. Cover my gaps with Your grace — You have always been the better Father.

Hold them tonight, and hold them always, long after my arms can't reach.

In Jesus' name, Amen.
