Prayer of the Day

Lord, thank You for Sunday morning. Thank You for a day with Your name on it — a day that does not belong to the office, the inbox, or the errands, but to You.

The house is quiet, or it isn't. The coffee is hot, or the children are already loud. Either way, I want the first words of this day to be Yours. So here I am, Father. Good morning.

Thank You for the week You carried me through — the parts I handled well, the parts I barely handled at all, and the mercies I never noticed. Nothing was wasted in Your hands.

Prepare my heart for worship today. If I go to church, let me really arrive — not just my body in the pew, but my whole attention. If I cannot go, meet me where I am, because You are not confined to a building, and You have never once failed to show up.

Slow me down, Lord. I spend six days hurrying; teach me to spend this one differently. Let me linger over Your Word. Let me linger over the people at my table. Let there be one unhurried hour today where I remember that I am Yours and the world keeps turning without my help.

And as this day of rest becomes a week of work, send me into it with a settled heart — rested, forgiven, and glad.

This is the day You have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Father, the day is over and the bed is ready. Before I sleep, I put myself back in Your hands — the same hands that held me all day long.

Thank You for everything today held, and for getting me through the parts I didn't think I'd get through.

Forgive what needs forgiving. I don't want to sleep on an unconfessed heart. You know my failures better than I do, and You are kinder to me about them than I am.

Bless the people I love — each one, by name, in my heart. Keep them through the night.

Now, Lord, let me sleep. Not the thin sleep of a worried mind, but the deep sleep of someone who knows the door is locked, the night is watched, and the One keeping guard never closes His eyes.

Into Your hands I commit my spirit — tonight, tomorrow, and always.
